Why The Alliance?

We're building something different — a party owned by its members, not by donors or lobbyists.

The Alliance is a democratic socialist party founded on the principle that ordinary people should have real power over the decisions that affect their lives. We believe in public ownership of essential services, secure well-paid work, free education and healthcare, and a genuine Treaty partnership.

Unlike other parties, our Conference — not our MPs — is the supreme decision-making body. Policy comes from the grassroots up. Every member has a vote, and every voice matters.

Use this form to apply for Alliance membership. Electoral Commission evidence exports only include accepted, paid, current members who are 18 or older and enrolled or eligible to enrol as New Zealand electors.

Electoral eligibility

Applicants who are under 18 or not eligible to enrol can still apply for membership, but they are not included in Electoral Commission membership evidence exports.

Annual membership fee

Alliance Party membership is set at a minimum of $1 per year. Any donation above this amount is much appreciated. Membership lapses one year after the date of payment.
